Was the painting I have ever a movie prop?
"How can I find out if the painting I have was ever used in a John Wayne movie? The story we got around 30 or 40 years ago, was that it was a painting of Jean Lafitte and his lover and was a prop from a John Wayne movie. The artist is unknown as far as I can tell...her name is Edna Liberto." -- Anonymous

I would suggest posting to some John Wayne film fan sites and post the picture of the artwork there as well and see if anyone can name which film it came from; then you could rent & watch the film and see if you can spot the painting. Thought that wouldn't be proof it was actually the same one, but if the frame and size appears the same, it may well be. This would not be considered an authentic movie prop though unless it is certified by the film studio, the original prop master (perhaps this person is still alive -- see IMDB.com to find that prop master's name), or a reputable auction house.
